Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation (SMACF) is a nonprofit organization established to introduce and promote programs to improve animal welfare in Blount County Tennessee, along with the surrounding areas of the Great Smoky Mountains. The greatest undertaking was to raise funds to support the development of a municipal animal shelter. The Blount County Animal Center opened in November of 2009.
While the fundraising continues, SMACF has also taken on the role to support the county’s operation of the Blount County Animal Center. The foundation is currently seeking volunteers to work on a daily basis with the cats and dogs who are housed at the shelter and require basic care and attention, but most importantly, they need our love and compassion. The BCAC relies on the team of volunteers to work together and provide a clean, safe and happy environment for these precious and beautiful animals until they can find their forever home.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Blount County Animal Center, please attend a volunteer orientation on the
first or third Saturday of each month at 10 am. Orientations are held at the Blount County Operations Center, 1221 McArthur RoadMaryville TN 37804. Please arrive by 9:55am to ensure entrance to the facility. or Contact us at
